Standing Mushroom Tower Bookshelf With Tiered Round Shelves

A single carved trunk rises from the floor and branches out into round disc shelves stacked at intervals up its height. Each disc is a mushroom cap, flat on top with carved gill lines underneath, and they alternate in diameter as they climb. The widest cap crowns the top.

It stands on its own. No wall mounting, no anchoring. The base is a solid round platform heavy enough to keep the whole structure stable whether you load every shelf or leave half of them empty.

How the shelves work

The discs are not all the same size. They step up in a tapered pattern, with smaller shelves near the bottom and larger ones near the top, mimicking the way a cluster of mushrooms grows with the biggest cap on top catching the most light. This staggered sizing means items on lower shelves are not hidden by the one above them. You can see everything on every tier from standing height.

Each shelf holds 8 to 12 lbs depending on size. Books standing upright, a small potted plant, a candle cluster, a ceramic mug, framed photos. The slight upturned rim around each cap edge keeps things from sliding off.

The trunk

Carved with organic bark texture running its full length. Not a smooth cylinder. The surface has ridges, knots, and grain lines that show through the satin finish. Where each shelf branches from the trunk, the joint flares naturally like a real mushroom stem meeting its cap.

Where it works

Living rooms, bedrooms, reading corners, entryways, home offices. It takes up about as much floor space as a floor lamp but gives you four to five display surfaces stacked vertically. Works as a room accent next to a sofa, beside a bed, or in a corner that is too narrow for a conventional bookcase.

Group two or three towers of different heights together for a forest cluster arrangement. Or place one on its own as a standalone sculpture that happens to hold your things.

Material and finish

Solid walnut with a satin oil finish. Warm honey-brown tones with visible grain on every surface. Smooth rounded edges on all shelf rims, trunk, and base. The finish deepens naturally over time with light exposure.
